Ethical Production In India
Our Ethical Journey
Ethics have always been at the heart of Patchouli Fair.
From the very beginning, our aim has been simple: to create beautiful clothing while working in a way that respects the people who make our garments, the traditions behind the craft and the environment around us.
Every piece we create represents more than style — it reflects relationships, skilled making and a commitment to responsible fashion production.
Transparency & Trust
We believe ethical fashion begins with honesty.
Patchouli Fair works directly with the people who make our garments and fabrics in India. By maintaining close relationships with trusted production partners and artisan workshops, we are able to ensure clear communication, fair working practices and mutual respect.
Working closely with the makers behind our collections allows us to build long-term partnerships based on trust rather than anonymous supply chains.
Supporting Skilled Makers
Our producers are not simply suppliers — they are valued partners.
By working directly with makers and small production houses, we help support skilled artisans and provide consistent work opportunities that help sustain families and communities.
Traditional textile skills such as hand block printing are part of India’s cultural heritage, and by continuing to work with these techniques we help ensure those skills remain alive for future generations.
No Child Labour
Respect and responsibility guide every relationship we build.
Patchouli Fair does not support or work with any organisation that employs children under the age of 16. Every producer we collaborate with shares our commitment to ethical employment and the protection of children’s rights.
Fair Pay & Respectful Partnerships
Ethics have always been at the heart of Patchouli Fair. From the very beginning, our aim has been simple: to create beautiful clothing while working in a way that respects the people who make our garments, the traditions behind the craft and the environment around us. Every piece we create represents more than style — it reflects relationships, craftsmanship and a commitment to responsible fashion production.
Safe and Supportive Working Environments
The people who make our clothing deserve safe, respectful working environments. We regularly visit our production partners in India to maintain strong relationships and to ensure working conditions are clean, safe and supportive. Healthy working environments and respectful treatment help skilled makers produce their best work.
Equality and Inclusion
Everyone we work with is valued and respected. Patchouli Fair does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, age or background. We support inclusive workplaces where individuals are treated fairly and with dignity.
Respect for the Environment
We also aim to minimise environmental impact wherever possible. Some Patchouli Fair pieces are created using recycled silks and repurposed fabrics, giving beautiful materials a second life rather than allowing them to go to waste. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we continually look for ways to reduce waste and support more responsible production practices.
Ethical Fashion in Practice
Ethical fashion is not a single decision — it is a series of choices made over time. By working directly with skilled makers in India, supporting traditional craftsmanship and producing clothing thoughtfully rather than rapidly, Patchouli Fair aims to create fashion that values people, culture and long-term relationships.
